Two men were shot today at a restaurant in Montijo, Setúbal district, near 8:00 p.m., and were being transported to the hospital undergoing resuscitation efforts around 8:45 p.m., authorities revealed.
The Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Setúbal Peninsula reported that the alert for the incident was given at 7:55 p.m., with the victims “in cardiac arrest” and subject to “advanced life support measures.”
By approximately 8:45 p.m., the same Civil Protection source indicated that the two victims were “being transported to the Hospital of Barreiro,” escorted by “emergency medical and resuscitation vehicles (VMER) from Barreiro and Loures,” belonging to the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
A source from the Territorial Command of Setúbal GNR revealed that “the two shot individuals are related men” and “the shooting suspect is also a man, possibly having a work relationship with the victims.”
“We are still ascertaining with certainty whether we have only one suspect or if the shooter was accompanied,” added the police source.
The Setúbal Judicial Police confirmed that they are already investigating the incident.
“A team has already been deployed to the site and is collecting evidence,” explained the source, stating that it is crucial to determine “if there are victims, how many, and whether there is one or more suspects.”
For the incident, 23 operatives were mobilized, supported by eight vehicles, including those from the fire department, GNR, and INEM.
