The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection reported that an alert was issued at 16:33.
Mónica Martins noted that the circumstances under which the two women ended up in the sea are unknown. However, they were quickly rescued to the beach once the alert was raised.
The captain of the port of Vila do Conde and Póvoa de Varzim added that both women were transported to the hospital.
