Two women suspected of qualified fraud. Gold items seized.

Two women, aged 55 and 88, were formally charged by the National Republican Guard (GNR) last Thursday, December 11, for qualified fraud in the municipality of Paredes.

According to a statement, the GNR detailed that, as part of an investigation into qualified fraud, police activities revealed that the suspects frequented gold buying and selling establishments, expressing interest in acquiring high-value items.

After gaining the employees’ trust, they assured that payment would be made immediately through bank transfer.

However, the payment was later canceled, by which time the items had already been transferred to the suspects’ possession.

The statement further notes that the illicit activity was conducted continually by the two suspects in various regions across the country.

The GNR seized various gold items valued at over 30,000 euros. “The recovered and already identified gold pieces will be returned to their rightful owners,” the statement added.

The facts have been communicated to the Judicial Court of Paredes.
