A vehicle accident occurred on National Road (EN) 2 at kilometer 445.8, near Cansado in the municipality of Ponte de Sor, Portalegre district, as reported by the Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command. The alert was received by authorities at 17:06.
According to further information, the vehicle collided with a large tree, resulting in serious injuries to a 46-year-old woman and minor injuries to a 39-year-old man and a two-year-old child.
The injured individuals were transported to the Abrantes hospital in the Santarém district.
The rescue operation involved 18 personnel from the Ponte de Sor firefighters, members of the GNR, and professionals from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), supported by nine vehicles, including the Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulance from Ponte de Sor and the Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) from Abrantes.
