Under-21 Euro: Portugal eliminated in the ‘quarter’ by England and misses the Olympic Games

Portugal yesterdayfell in the quarterfinals of the European Under-21 soccer, losing 1-0 to England, failing to qualify for the Olympic Games Paris2024.

At the Ramaz Shengelia Stadium in Kutaisi, Georgia, the defending European runners-up were defeated by England with a solitary goal by Anthony Gordon in the 34th minute.

With today’s defeat in the European Championship, a competition in which the Portuguese ‘esperanças’ were finalists in 1994, 2015 and 2021, Portugal also fails to qualify for the next Olympic Games, which will be held in the French capital in the summer of 2024.
