
“Last week ending April 19, the seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims numbered 222,000, which marks an increase of 6,000 from the revised level of the previous week,” stated the Department of Labor.
The figure from the previous week was revised upwards, from 215,000 to 216,000 claims.
The four-week moving average was recorded at 220,250, a decrease of 750 compared to the revised average of the previous week, which had been increased from 220,750 to 221,000.
The advance seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 1.2% for the week ending April 12, remaining unchanged.
During the same week, the seasonally adjusted number of unemployed individuals claiming unemployment insurance was 1,841,000, a decrease of 37,000.
