
In the euro area, the unemployment rate decreased to 6.2% compared to 6.4% recorded in June 2024, remaining stable month-on-month with March.
In the EU, the unemployment rate slightly fell to 5.9% from 6.0% year-on-year, also remaining stable compared to May.
Eurostat estimates that 12.967 million people in the EU, of which 10.7 million are in the euro area, were unemployed in June 2025.
Without data for Greece, which typically shows high unemployment, the highest unemployment rates were reported in Spain (10.4%), Finland (9.3%), and Sweden (8.7%), while the lowest rates were observed in Malta (2.5%), Czech Republic (3.0%), and Poland (3.5%).
In Portugal, the rate decreased to 6.0%.
