The unemployment rate stood at 6.5%, a figure that remains consistent with the previous three comparison periods: the previous month, three months earlier, and the same period last year, announced INE on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the labor underutilization rate reached 11.0%, surpassing the rate of the previous month and three months prior by 0.1 percentage points (p.p.) each, but decreased compared to the same month in 2024 by 0.2 p.p.
In March 2025, the employed population reached 5,175,000, marking the highest level since February 1998.
In February, the unemployment rate was also at 6.5%, slightly higher than January 2025 by 0.1 p.p. but lower than November and February 2024 by 0.1 p.p. each.
In the second month of the year, the labor underutilization rate was at 10.9%, the same as the previous month, but it showed a decrease in comparison to three months earlier by 0.2 p.p. and compared to the same period last year by 0.6 p.p.
