The show’s production required prior viewing of all the material captured during the May 31 concert, a “requirement that exceeded acceptable limits,” stated the publication, which refused to publish photographs from the event.
In response to this incident, the union announced it would refer the matter to the ERC and urged all journalists to report any restrictions imposed at shows or concerts that hinder journalistic work.
“Such restrictions on the work of journalists have been spreading in various types of events and press conferences and cannot continue to be normalized,” stated the SJ in a release.
The union further emphasized that exercising journalism inherently requires the freedom of creation and action and that a journalist’s professional card should grant access to public events without additional restrictions.
“Demanding a journalist to show captured material is an unacceptable form of information control,” the statement read.
