The resigning union leadership has accused their counterparts of severe defamation, orchestrated internal attacks, and repeated attempts to block essential decisions necessary for the smooth operation of the union. This was articulated in a statement by the outgoing leadership.
According to the resigning leadership, the environment has become “toxic,” with numerous efforts undermined by internal forces motivated by interests unrelated to the genuine welfare of nurses and the union’s mission.
The leadership, stepping down “with immediate effect,” highlights that the “recent wave of insinuations, the break-in at the union’s premises, and the attempts at media manipulation clearly aim to harm the leadership on the eve of an electoral process.”
“Unfortunately, some believe that the union should serve their personal interests rather than those of its members,” they assert.
Listing all the projects achieved during their tenure, the leadership claims to have “taken on the mission of returning a voice, rights, and recognition long overdue to nursing professionals.”
However, they stress the decision to resign immediately stems from “a refusal to engage in behind-the-scenes games, lies, or defamatory campaigns.”
