Unions approve CP’s proposal with a 4% increase in tables

The unions have approved the proposal from the management of CP – Comboios de Portugal, which includes a 4% increase in salary scales, while expressing a desire to continue discussions.

This decision was made by the Associação Sindical das Chefias Intermédias de Exploração Ferroviária (ASCEF), Associação Sindical Independente do Serviço Comercial (ASSIFECO), Sindicato Nacional dos Transportes, Comunicações e Obras Públicas (FENTCOP), Federação dos Sindicatos de Transportes e Comunicações (Fectrans), Sindicato Nacional dos Ferroviários do Movimento e Afins (SINAFE), Sindicato Nacional Democrático dos Ferroviários (SINDEFER), Sindicato Independente dos Trabalhadores Ferroviários, das Infraestruturas e Afins (SINFA), Sindicato Independente Nacional dos Ferroviários (SINFB), Sindicato Nacional dos Trabalhadores dos Transportes e Indústria (SINTTI), Sindicato Independente dos Trabalhadores Ferroviários e Afins (SIOFA), Sindicato Nacional dos Quatros Técnicos (SNAQ), Sindicato dos Transportes Ferroviários (STF), and the Sindicato dos Trabalhadores do Metro e Ferroviários (STMEFE).

“This group of unions informed CP and the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing of their acceptance of the proposal presented by the company’s management on July 16, thus creating conditions for workers to see their salaries valued,” the statement reads.

According to the same note, the agreement includes a 4% increase in salary scales starting July 1 and a restructuring of scales from January 2025, with the implementation of the new increase, which, together with the 34 euros advanced by the management, restores the difference in each index from the national minimum wage as of 2018.

This agreement also foresees a reduction in minimum stay times starting January 1, 2025.

However, the unions want to continue debating the creation of mechanisms to prevent new “flattening relative to the national minimum wage.”

Additionally, they seek to make the progression between indices in professional careers more attractive and to create a compensation mechanism for workers at the top of their careers.

“We consider it important to address these topics so that, in a short period, we are not discussing/negotiating based on the same arguments of the negotiation process that led us to draft the restructuring report of CP’s salary scales,” they explained.
