A 20-year-old man was caught in the act and arrested on Thursday, July 3, in the municipality of Fafe, Braga district, on suspicion of committing the crime of child pornography, the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) announced in a statement sent to Notícias ao Minuto.
The investigation began with a “signal” from international entities regarding the sharing of content involving child pornography on internet platforms, accessed from Portugal, the inspectors noted.
After various procedures, including “a search warrant carried out at the suspect’s residence located in the municipality of Fafe,” inspectors seized “significant evidential material”, and were able to identify the man’s possession of “numerous files (images and videos) of pornography involving minors”.
The PJ further reveals that the suspect is a university student in the field of computer engineering.
The young man appeared before the competent judicial authorities for the first judicial interrogation and was released with “non-detention coercive measures”.
