
Patients classified as urgent at the Amadora-Sintra hospital are facing wait times of about 12 hours for a first consultation, according to the SNS portal.
At around 11:00 AM, information indicated that 17 patients, triaged with yellow wristbands (urgent) at the Hospital Prof. Doutor Fernando da Fonseca (Amadora-Sintra), had to wait 11 hours and 25 minutes for a first observation. Meanwhile, the four patients considered very urgent (orange wristband) had to wait 55 minutes.
At Hospital Santa Maria in Lisbon, 18 urgent patients are experiencing a wait time of one hour and 41 minutes for a first observation. In contrast, at Hospital Garcia de Orta in Almada, the 12 patients in the general emergency department with yellow wristbands had a minimum wait of one hour and 30 minutes, and the patients with orange wristbands faced a wait of 24 minutes.
At Hospital Beatriz Ângelo in Loures, as of 11:00 AM, nine urgent patients were waiting just over an hour for their first consultation, while two with orange wristbands had an estimated wait time of 35 minutes.
In contrast, in the North at Hospital São João in Porto, the nine patients with yellow wristbands were waiting about an hour, and the two who received orange wristbands had to wait 35 minutes.
According to the triage system, very urgent situations (orange wristbands) should ideally be attended to within 10 minutes of triage, urgent cases (yellow) within 60 minutes, and less urgent cases (green) within 120 minutes.
Health authorities urge patients to contact the National Health Service Contact Center – SNS24 (808242424) before going to the hospital emergency room to avoid unnecessary trips.
