The latest data accessed at 10:00 indicates that the average waiting time for the first observation is 12 hours and 51 minutes for urgent patients (yellow bracelet) and 17 hours and 10 minutes for less urgent cases (green bracelet).
The general emergency department of Professor Doctor Fernando Fonseca Hospital, also known as the Amadora-Sintra Hospital, had a total of 45 patients waiting, more than half (24) of whom were urgent. There were 19 less urgent (green bracelet) patients and one non-urgent (blue bracelet) case.
The nearly 13-hour wait for urgent patients at Amadora-Sintra Hospital follows a previous 16-hour wait at this health facility on Sunday.
At the beginning of the year, the Local Health Unit of Amadora-Sintra joined the “Call First, Save Lives” project, aimed at reducing the burden on emergency services by promoting prior contact with the SNS24 Line.
At that time, around 55% of visits to the emergency department at Fernando Fonseca Hospital were non-urgent or less urgent cases, placing a strain on the service’s operations.
According to the triage system, very urgent situations (orange) are recommended to receive attention within the next 10 minutes post-triage, while urgent (yellow) cases have a 60-minute recommendation, and less urgent (green) cases 120 minutes.
