
The National Health Service portal reported that as of 4:30 p.m., the general emergency room of Amadora-Sintra had 64 urgent patients who had to wait up to 16 hours and ten minutes for an initial assessment.
For the 61 less urgent patients (green tag), the waiting time exceeded 19 hours, according to information accessed by Lusa agency.
At the Garça de Orta Hospital in Almada, the situation in the general emergency room was better, with an average waiting time for the first evaluation of three hours and 17 minutes.
Meanwhile, at Beatriz Ângelo in Loures, the SNS portal indicated that at 4:30 p.m., 30 urgent patients were waiting about four hours for an initial assessment, a wait time that increased to nearly 16 hours for less urgent patients.
According to the triage system, very urgent situations (orange) should be attended to within 10 minutes following triage, urgent cases (yellow) within 60 minutes, and less urgent (green) within 120 minutes.
As per the SNS Portal information, “the calculation of the average time is based on the average time elapsed since the user entered the phase they are currently in (waiting for triage, waiting for first observation, or under observation).”
