The United States and the European Union have finalized a trade agreement with tariffs set at 15%, confirmed Donald Trump after meeting with Ursula von der Leyen in Turnberry, Scotland.
The US and the EU “reached an agreement,” announced the American President at the conclusion of a meeting with the European Commission President.
Trump initiated discussions with von der Leyen Sunday morning, days ahead of the planned implementation of 30% tariffs on European imports, scheduled for August 1.
Before the meeting, the US President stated that the European Union would never benefit from tariffs below 15% and hoped to resolve “some issues” during his meeting with the Commission President.
When questioned by journalists just before his meeting with Ursula von der Leyen about the possibility of the European Union benefiting from tariffs below 15%, Donald Trump was unequivocal: “No,” said Donald Trump.
