Vale Perdido celebrates “constraint-free” music in Lisbon

The third edition of the Vale Perdido, announced today, will feature “ten diverse acts” offering “music free from formal constraints, eclectic and creative,” available for listening from November 10 to 15 at venues such as B.Leza, St. George’s Church, and the São Luiz municipal theater.

In addition to the return of American musician Bonnie Prince Billy to Portugal, whose concert in Lisbon is already sold out, Vale Perdido will showcase the folk style of British visual artist and singer Joanne Robertson.

The program also introduces some names from the new wave of music from Guinea-Bissau, namely Badju di Tina, in collaboration with members of the groups Bambaram and Kimbum, Benjamim Furtado, and DJ Carin.

Arianna Casellas Y Kauê, a Venezuelan-Brazilian duo formed in Porto, and the Ukrainian duo of voice and synthesizers, Adriana-Yaroslava Saienko and Heinali, will also join Vale Perdido.

Making their debut in Portugal are the Ancient Indigenous Africans, “a duo from Tanzania combining electronic music with ancient vocal languages.”

Multidisciplinary artist Inês Tartaruga Água and electronic musician Van Der complete the lineup.

Vale Perdido, which had editions in 2024 and 2023 with performances always set in “unique spaces across Lisbon,” is curated by Sérgio Hydalgo, Joaquim Quadros, and Gustavo Blanco.
