The presidential candidate André Ventura accused the government of provoking the strike due to its “stubbornness” and “disrespect” towards the workers.
On the Antena 1 podcast “Política com Assinatura,” the leader of Chega stated that the Executive of the Democratic Alliance (AD) “opted for a kind of liberal line that gives the impression to those who work that they can be dismissed at any time, that they will lose rights, and that only those who are in charge matter, not those who work, and that is wrong.”
“The government was stubborn, inflexible and wanted to disrespect those who work,” he remarked.
For Ventura, the strike is legitimate, “there are reasons for widespread discontent, and they are right,” therefore, he believes that the government should “backtrack and withdraw a series of absurd laws” that have been (or will be) implemented.
