“The government’s plan will bring us more unnecessary and clandestine immigration, leading to more mafias controlling this immigration with fictitious contracts. We will face situations where 30, 40, 50, and 60 people live in the same housing unit, as seen in Lisbon and Porto,” stated André Ventura.
Ventura was speaking during a party initiative at the Assembly of the Republic, aimed at answering questions posed by young people. However, only the initial intervention, lasting about 30 minutes, was open to the media.
“It isn’t necessary to look just in Lisbon; any part of the country showcases the true invasion occurring without control, without rules, and without any support. What does the PSD government want to do? Facilitate and create an express lane for immigration,” he remarked.
The president of Chega took the opportunity to criticize the Cooperation Protocol for Regulated Labor Migration signed today, which, according to Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, aims to establish “more agile but also more humanitarian” rules.
According to the protocol, accessed by Lusa, visa issuance “should occur within 20 days from the applicant’s appointment at the consular post,” provided legal requirements are met, including the existence of an employment contract, health insurance, and travel insurance, among others.
André Ventura argued that Portugal does not need “a weak government on immigration,” but rather “a harsh and firm government capable of controlling immigration,” reaffirming the party’s support for setting quotas for foreign entries into the country.
