“There was a reason, a reason of a personal and familial nature that I understand I do not have to share. I am human too, I am the leader of the Chega party, but I am also a person, I have a life, I have vicissitudes, I have a family, and time does not wait, and time is what it is, and there are moments in life when we have to make choices, even if that sometimes has political costs,” stated André Ventura.
André Ventura spoke to journalists in Reguengos de Monsaraz, in the Évora district, where he accompanied Chega’s candidate for that City Hall, Raquel Silva, in a campaign event.
“Being an issue of a personal nature, I made it a point not to mix it with the political issue, which are the elections,” he indicated.
The leader of Chega also took the opportunity to criticize the media, asserting that journalists and commentators say André Ventura “overshadows the candidates and removes them from the scene,” and that “there is too much presence of André Ventura in the campaign,” but they were very curious to know where he had been in recent days.
The president of Chega was absent for the first two days of the official campaign period for the municipal elections on October 12, which began on Tuesday, an absence that was not justified by the party’s communication.
