Ventura refuses to be a crutch: “We take the work of leading the opposition seriously”

“I want to say, Mr. Prime Minister, to you and before this Chamber, that we take and will take seriously the work of leading this opposition, but that you will never count, and I know you know you will never count, on a party that is merely a crutch, but a party that has the courage to tell you to your face what is wrong, where you went wrong, what you did wrong, what you have to do better, and what you should change for Portugal,” he stated.

In his speech during the closing of the debate on the Government’s program at the Assembly of the Republic, the leader of Chega indicated that he will not make “opposition in the style of PS/PSD” and will speak “the truth, even if that truth is costly,” pointing out to the executive “where it governs poorly.”

In his remarks, André Ventura challenged the Prime Minister to commit immediately to two measures: “to give a dignified pension to all the former combatants of this country” and to implement “a great plan to put to work all those who receive subsidies improperly.”
