“I believe that press freedom is a decisive and essential asset in a democracy, and now we see that the prime minister does not like the press when it is not convenient for him,” stated André Ventura to journalists at the Ovibeja agricultural fair currently taking place in Beja.

The leader of Chega remarked that the prime minister and PSD leader “likes [the media] when it delivers good news, but does not like it when he is scrutinized.”

Luís Montenegro “does not like freedom and scrutiny,” he accused.

On Wednesday, the newspaper Expresso reported that Luís Montenegro submitted a new declaration to the Transparency Entity, in which he added seven new companies he worked with at Spinumviva, a company he founded and recently passed on to his children.

Following the release of new information, PSD deputy Hugo Carneiro requested that the Parliamentary Special Committee on Register of Interests ask the Transparency Entity for access records of those who viewed the prime minister’s data to find out who shared the information with the press.

The same deputy suggested that judicial authorities access the journalists’ phone records to identify who disclosed the new client list of Spinumviva.
