
At a meeting in Gaia (Porto district), Ventura expressed solidarity with Albufeira’s mayor, Rui Cristina, a Chega party member, following severe weather events.
“Today has been terrible. This morning, I expressed my solidarity with the families affected nationwide by this weather disaster and depression, especially Albufeira’s population,” said André Ventura.
Ventura conveyed his “solidarity” to Albufeira’s mayor and reported receiving assurances that actions were underway to safeguard individuals, preventing further harm or damage.
Nearly 30 people were injured today due to an extreme wind event in Albufeira, with two in critical condition.
The injured include Portuguese, Spanish, French, and British nationals, revealed the Civil Protection.
The incident at 10:07 caused fatalities, including an 85-year-old British woman, and injuries at Albufeira’s campsite, along with damage in a tourist complex, while other damage was reported in Lagoa and Silves.
Silves also experienced a similar event at 11:48, leading to structural damage, numerous tree falls, and the displacement of two individuals, who were rehoused by the Municipal Civil Protection Service.
