“This party, which is Chega, will never become anyone’s crutch. We will never sell our identity and our causes to please the PS, the PSD, or anyone else. That’s why this resolve is so strong and unbreakable,” declared André Ventura, the leader of Chega.

During a rally dinner held in Guimarães, Braga, Ventura emphasized that Chega “won’t break, won’t back down,” and remains fearless.

“Whether it’s gypsies, immigrants, corrupt individuals, the PS, or the PSD, we have no fear,” he remarked, prompting those present to echo these sentiments aloud.

In his address, Ventura critiqued the parties BE and IL, sarcastically noting that BE’s “investment in youth” involved nominating for the legislative elections on May 18 its founders, Francisco Louçã and Fernando Rosas, to represent the Braga and Leiria districts, respectively.

“We should send a message to two parties in these elections, parties that promised rejuvenation but resorted to the same old cupboard. The Bloco de Esquerda brought back Louçã, and the Iniciativa Liberal brought Rui Rocha, this great young and secure talent,” he criticized.

Speaking to a room of approximately 400 supporters, Ventura expressed his desire to take deputies away from these parties, stating that he “would really like” them not to be elected in Braga.

The Chega leader also accused the IL of acting as “crutches for the PSD in parliament” over the past year, joining forces with the CDS-PP in this role.
