The Impresa group announced today its partnership with the Italian company MFE – MediaForEurope, resulting in MFE acquiring a 32.934% stake in the owner of SIC, while the Balsemão family retains control with 33.738%.
“We are very proud of this partnership, as MFE is a leading media group in Europe with whom we share a future vision based on the production of quality content, closeness to viewers, and technological innovation,” stated Francisco Pedro Balsemão in a press release.
“My family and I would like to thank Pier Silvio Berlusconi, his family, and the entire MFE team for the trust and collaborative spirit with which this agreement was developed,” continued the CEO of SIC’s parent company. He added that “Impresa brings to this project its unique experience, its recognized values of freedom and journalistic independence in Portugal, and its unique connection” with the Portuguese public.
“We are convinced that we will have the capacity to develop tangible and lasting synergies that benefit all parties involved, particularly in terms of their growth, the expansion of digital activity, and the potential development of new business areas,” concluded Francisco Pedro Balsemão.
Meanwhile, MFE, in a statement to the Italian market, noted that “the legacy of Francisco Pinto Balsemão in shaping the Portuguese media landscape is widely recognized and highly regarded” by the Italian company.
“The continuous involvement of the Balsemão family will be essential to driving Impresa’s strategic direction and facing upcoming challenges,” MFE concluded.
