
A road collision between a heavy vehicle and a passenger car resulted in a person being trapped on Monday afternoon.
The Viseu Dão Lafões Sub-Regional Command reported to Notícias ao Minuto that the accident occurred on the IP3 at kilometer 97.9, between Coimbra and Viseu, with the alert given to authorities at 3:37 PM.
The victim, who was in the passenger vehicle, was trapped inside the car and was only freed nearly an hour after the accident, at 4:30 PM, by firefighters.
The same source told Notícias ao Minuto that the victim only sustained minor injuries and was already being taken to a hospital in the ULS of Viseu Dão Lafões.
Traffic on the IP3 is still limited, with the traffic brigade remaining on site, despite the emergency services beginning to demobilize. The vehicles involved in the accident have not yet been removed.
Present at the scene were the Tondela Firefighters, the National Republican Guard (GNR), and the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), comprising a total of 18 operatives supported by 8 vehicles.
