Vilar de Mouros hosts more than 20 artists and bands between today and Saturday

In statements this week, festival spokesperson Paulo Ventura declined to specify the number of attendees expected at the 2025 edition.

“It’s better to wait until the end of each day,” he stated, adding that ticket sales were “going well.”

“It will be the Vilar de Mouros we want, with a large and enthusiastic audience. We have a lineup that will please the public, which suggests a good turnout for the festival. We are very happy with the artists we have,” he mentioned.

According to Paulo Ventura, this year the organization “improved the access routes, created a larger entrance area for the festival, added more parking spaces, expanded the camping area, and increased the dining and restroom facilities.”

On the first day of the festival’s 60th-anniversary edition, performances include The Kooks, James, The Stranglers, Starsailor, Altered Images, and Dubaquito.

On Thursday, the stage at Vilar de Mouros will feature the Sex Pistols (with Frank Carter on vocals), The Damned, Palaye Royale, The Godfathers, and Girlband!.

Papa Roach, Refused, Triggerfinger, the Linkin Park tribute band Hybrid Theory, and Girl Scout are scheduled for the third day of the festival.

The festival concludes on Saturday with Da Weasel, I Prevail, The Ting Tings, Stereo MC’s, and Cavaliers of Fun.

The country’s first music festival, launched by Dr. António Barge, took place in 1965 and originally showcased popular music from Alto Minho and Galicia.

The 1971 edition, which earned it the nickname ‘Portugal’s Woodstock,’ featured artists such as Elton John and Manfred Mann.
