Visão hits the newsstands with fewer pages due to the strike

“[…] The editorial team at Visão was left with two options. One was to resign, thus preventing this edition from being released. The other was to remain in their roles and adapt the magazine’s planning to the new reality, producing an edition with fewer pages and a different organization than usual,” states the magazine’s editorial, accessed by Lusa.

According to the text, signed by Rui Tavares Guedes (director), Filipe Luís, and Alexandra Correia (deputy directors), the choice was the second option in an attempt to save the magazine from its “immediate closure” due to the lack of revenue from newsstand sales.

This edition of the magazine was exclusively created by the professionals who “freely chose to participate.”

The management emphasized that Visão is independent of political, economic, and pressure groups, affirming that their commitment is to readers and subscribers.

“It is for them that we want to continue working and pursuing our mission of quality, impartial, and rigorous journalism. We know this is only possible with a dedicated, competent, and experienced editorial team like Visão’s—which needs to be paid justly, on time,” they noted.

Employees of TiN began an indefinite strike on June 20 due to delayed salaries and allowances.

The magazine Caras, another title from the group, will hit the stands on Thursday, a day later than planned, due to delays in closing the edition caused by the strike, a company source said today.

Founded in 2017, TiN owns 16 media outlets, both in print and on digital platforms.
