Vitorino, Severiano Teixeira, and Seixas da Costa at tomorrow’s PS session


The leader of the Socialist Party (PS), Pedro Nuno Santos, is orchestrating sector-specific sessions from Wednesday until next week, aimed at drafting the 2025 Legislative Manifesto, which the party plans to present for the legislative elections scheduled for May 18.

Friday afternoon is exclusively dedicated to the panel on “International Relations, Europe, Defense, and External Security,” featuring António Vitorino as the keynote speaker, a figure often mentioned as a potential presidential candidate in the upcoming elections.

According to an official source from PS, Nuno Severiano Teixeira, a professor and former Minister of National Defense and Internal Administration, will join this discussion, along with Francisco Seixas da Costa, a former ambassador and Secretary of State for European Affairs.

Maria João Rodrigues, President of the Foundation for European Progressive Studies, José Neves, President of the Portuguese Aeronautics, Space, and Defense Industries Cluster, and Margarida Marques, a former Secretary of State for European Affairs, MP, and MEP, will also contribute to this area.

Additional participants include Marcos Perestrello, Vice-President of Parliament and former Secretary of State, and João Paulo Rebelo, a deputy and Vice-President of the PS parliamentary group for Foreign Affairs.

Former Secretary of State for National Defense Ana Santos Pinto, former President of idD Portugal Defense Catarina Nunes, researcher Cátia Moreira Carvalho, and PhD holder in international relations Filipe Romão Vasconcelos will also be part of this session.
