The proposed State Budget for 2026, presented today by the government to the Assembleia da República, reveals that the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) is authorized to allocate €37,084,944 in 2026 to humanitarian associations of firefighters.
This year, the funding for volunteer firefighter corporations was €34.7 million.
The amount transferred by ANEPC to the humanitarian associations of firefighters is intended for civil protection missions, including those related to the national civil protection system and the Integrated System of Protection and Relief Operations.
Last week, the League of Portuguese Firefighters advocated for the transfer of at least €49.38 million next year for volunteer firefighters under this funding, whose distribution is based on risk criteria and the activity of each corporation.
The general debate on the 2026 State Budget will take place on October 27 and 28, with the final global vote scheduled for November 27.
