“Those who, for various reasons, gave their votes to the right, in its different forms, also, the vast majority of them, will become victims of the right-wing policies,” stated the General Secretary of the PCP today during a rally at the Oliveira do Douro Parish Council Auditorium (Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto district).

Facing a crowded auditorium, the communist leader appealed for “resistance, determination, and struggle” from those who live and work in Portugal, including those who voted for the right.

“It is for this confrontation, it is for this struggle that we call on everyone who lives and works here, including all those who, as I said, for one reason or another, voted for the right-wing parties and will be targets of the consequences of their policies,” he urged.

According to Paulo Raimundo, “everyone is needed for this fight for their lives, everyone is needed for this fight for what matters, their salaries, their pensions, in the National Health Service, in children’s rights, for peace, health, and housing, they will all be needed in this daily battle.”

“The reality is that the elections did not solve any of the problems in each individual’s life, and they create conditions for even more pressure on everyone’s life,” he considered.

Paulo Raimundo believes that “things remain more or less the same.”

“Our lives are still being crushed, and the economic groups continue to report profits, in some cases record-breaking for the first quarter of this year. Everything remains the same, serving the same as always,” he pointed out.

The deputy also warned of a “deep ideological offensive” with the reinforcement of PSD, CDS, Chega, and IL, where “those who think they own everything, the owners of these parties, will do as much as possible as quickly as possible not to lose the opportunity they created in the new parliamentary situation.”

However, the General Secretary of the PCP warned that “this cannot and will not continue like this forever.”

“The majority has a role, has a voice, and has a path,” he emphasized.
