Waiting time at Amadora-Sintra over 15 hours at 10:15 AM

Regarding the data released today by the National Health Service portal, the general emergency department of Amadora-Sintra reported 14 patients categorized as less urgent, 21 urgent, and one very urgent.

The 21 patients classified as urgent experienced a waiting time of 14 hours and 50 minutes, while those deemed less urgent had a wait of 15 hours and 19 minutes. The most critical case faced a waiting period of 48 minutes.

At the Hospital Garcia de Orta in Almada, as of 10:00 AM, the waiting time for the first consultation was four hours and 21 minutes.

Meanwhile, at the Beatriz Ângelo hospital in Loures, the SNS portal indicated an average wait of four hours and 50 minutes for the first consultation, and at the Santa Maria hospital in Lisbon, the waiting time stood at two hours and 29 minutes.

In Porto’s hospitals, the average waiting time for the first consultation was two hours and 39 minutes at “São João,” while at “Santo António,” it was around three and a half hours, with non-urgent patients having to wait eight hours and 17 minutes at this facility.

According to the triage system, very urgent situations (orange) are recommended to receive attention within the 10 minutes following the triage; urgent cases (yellow) have a recommended timeframe of 60 minutes, and less urgent cases (green) have 120 minutes recommended.

The SNS portal information states, “the calculation of the average time is given by the average time elapsed since the patient entered the phase they are in (waiting for triage, waiting for the first consultation, or under observation).”
