On Friday, thirty emergency doctors at Hospital Amadora-Sintra raised concerns about the “unsustainable situation” of their service, citing staffing shortfalls that fail to meet safety standards.
According to the Sindicato dos Médicos da Zona Sul (SMZS), over the first weekend of November, waiting times in the emergency department exceeded 24 hours. The administration at the Unidade Local de Saúde Amadora-Sintra attributed this to the absence of rostered doctors.
