The municipal coordinator of Civil Protection in Évora, Joaquim Piteira, reported that the collapsed wall is located on private land near the Portas do Raimundo roundabout, one of the entrances to the city’s historic center.
According to the official, the wall belongs to an apparently uninhabited private residence, as does the land where the eight cars hit by fragments of the structure were parked.
The alert about the wall’s collapse was made to the authorities around 3:15 AM today, noted Joaquim Piteira, adding that the Municipal Civil Protection Service has cordoned off the area, and the PSP is handling the incident.
