
At 2:50 PM (Lisbon time), the Dow Jones index was up 0.99% to 42,016.07 points, while the Nasdaq advanced 1.51% to 19,021.00 points.
The broader S&P 500 index gained 1.10% to 5,856.60 points.
This marked the first session of the week, as the stock exchange was closed on Monday for ‘Memorial Day’.
Over the weekend, U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to extend the deadline to negotiate a trade deal with the EU until July 9, to avoid 50% tariffs.
This decision came after Trump proposed a 50% tariff on the EU starting June 1 last week.
