Wall Street starts higher on the day of the Fed’s decision

At 14:45 Lisbon time, the Dow Jones index rose by 0.57% to 41,062.48 points, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq increased by 0.30% to 17,742.22 points.

The broader S&P 500 index followed this trend, gaining 0.14% to reach 5,614.85 points.

On Tuesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.95%, the Nasdaq decreased by 0.87%, and the broader S&P 500 dropped by 0.77%.

Investors are closely monitoring the outcomes of the Federal Reserve meeting, where interest rates are expected to remain unchanged, along with the press conference of the central bank’s chairman, Jerome Powell.

Investor sentiment is also buoyed by the prospects of easing trade tensions with Beijing after news emerged that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and trade official Jamieson Greer will meet with their Chinese counterparts in Switzerland this week.
