Wall Street starts the week on a high with rises of 1%

At 3:00 PM (Lisbon time), the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.98% to 44,017.79 points, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq rose 1.58% to 20,977.16 points.

The broad S&P 500 index was at 6,304.04 points, marking a gain of 1.06%.

This recovery followed significant declines on Friday, when the Dow Jones fell by 1.23%, the Nasdaq dropped by 2.24%, and the S&P 500 decreased by 1.60%.

Investors were anticipating deeper interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve amid unexpectedly weak employment data.

Following the release of the data, President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he would reveal the new leadership for employment statistics this week.

On Friday, Trump dismissed the chief statistician for employment, Erika McEntarfer, just hours after labor market data indicated sluggish job growth, partly due to significant downward revisions for May and June.

Trump is also set to announce a new member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
