
At 2:51 PM in Lisbon, the Dow Jones rose 0.17% to 44,536.16 points, while the Nasdaq increased 1.13% to 21,367.69 points.
Simultaneously, the S&P500 advanced 0.66% to 6,404.73 points.
The U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) has once again kept interest rates unchanged amid uncertainty over the impact of U.S. tariffs on the country’s economy.
The central bank’s benchmark interest rates thus remained between 4.25%-4.5%.
However, the U.S. generated more customs tax revenue in the first six months of 2025 than in the entire year of 2024, according to data from the U.S. Treasury compiled by AFP.
In total, revenues exceeded $87 billion, compared to around $79 billion in 2024, according to monthly data through the end of June, updated on Wednesday, showing an increase since April 2025, when Donald Trump initiated the tariff war.
