
Wall Street opened mixed today amid reports that U.S. jobless claims dropped to 227,000 last week.
At 14:53 Lisbon time, the Dow Jones index edged up 0.04% to 44,476.76 points, while the Nasdaq saw a decline of 0.23% to 20,563.22 points.
The broader S&P 500 index was at 6,258.95 points, a decrease of 0.06%.
The New York Stock Exchange closed higher on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones rising by 0.49%.
U.S. jobless claims reached 227,000 during the week ending July 5, down 5,000 from the previous week’s revised level, the U.S. Department of Labor reported today.
Last week, the level was revised downwards from 233,000 to 232,000.
The four-week moving average settled at 235,500, a reduction of 5,750 from the previous week’s revised average, which was lowered from 241,500 to 241,250.
