Applications for the second phase of the E-Lar program will begin next week on December 11, confirmed an official source from the Ministry of the Environment to Notícias ao Minuto. Initially, it was expected that applications would start this Tuesday, but today only the announcement with the rules will be released.
It is noteworthy that the Minister of Environment and Energy explained in Parliament that the Government requested an increase of 50 million euros from Brussels for the E-Lar program, as the initial allocation was spent in a few days.
The Minister, speaking during the discussion of the State Budget for the next year, stated that this request for reinforcement was made as part of the reprogramming of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
Maria da Graça Carvalho had already announced at the beginning of the month that she would request an increase in the program. On October 6, the Government announced that the E-Lar program, intended to replace gas appliances with electric ones in homes, received about 40,000 applications in six days, with the planned allocation of 30 million euros “exhausted.”

Last month, the program to replace gas appliances with electric ones in homes received about 40,000 applications in six days, quickly depleting the 30 million euros allocated. Now, an additional 51.5 million euros is coming.

The program was highlighted on the Environmental Fund website, from the Ministry of Environment and Energy, and applications opened on September 30, closing less than a week later.
The E-Lar is intended to improve the thermal comfort of homes and support families in purchasing efficient appliances and electrifying energy consumption.
In the Budget discussion, the Minister also recalled that, still within the reprogramming of the Sustainable Operational Program, there was a substantial increase in funding for water, with 344 million euros allocated for water resilience.
In the water domain, the Minister said that the Government decided to move forward with the construction of the Sines desalination plant, recalling that the works of the Albufeira desalination plant begin next month.
The E-Lar program initially had an allocation of 40 million euros to support the replacement of gas stoves, ovens, and water heaters with electric appliances of class A or higher.
It’s worth noting that the support under this program can reach 1,683 euros for vulnerable families, with a maximum of 1,100 euros for other cases.

A second phase of applications for the E-Lar program is coming, which provides support in the form of vouchers for the exchange of appliances. Interested parties can submit their applications from December 2.
