Fabian Figueiredo of the political party Bloquista made statements Thursday following a meeting with the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
“We have not received any relevant information from the Government. It was from the President of the Republic that we learned the four Portuguese are on land, in an Israeli port, and there is a possibility, not yet confirmed, for the Portuguese citizens to be visited by the Portuguese ambassador in Israel,” he stated. These comments came about half an hour after the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, said there might be a consular visit on Friday morning, in contrast to the Israeli prediction that suggested the first direct contact would occur on Sunday.
