The campaign ‘Arms in Safety, Summer Tour 2025’ aims to promote the licensing and collection of weapons through Mobile Service Units (UMAs) at city halls, parish councils, airports, cultural and sports associations, and fairs, as explained in a statement.
Until August 31, police officers will visit several municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Coimbra, Faro, Guarda, Leiria, Portalegre, Porto, Santarém, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, and Viseu.
Last year, in the first edition of ‘Arms in Safety, Summer Tour’, 94 actions took place across various districts in the country involving 103 officers from the PSP’s firearms and explosives services.
As part of the initiative, the PSP collected 173 firearms, mostly associated with hunting, and seized 1,523 rounds of ammunition and cartridges, it reported.
