The week commences this Monday, May 19, with rainfall, especially in the North and Center of the country. However, starting tomorrow, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) predicts a stabilization in weather conditions and a transition to dry and warm weather.
Today, meteorologists anticipate precipitation across the entire Azores archipelago and the entire North and Center of mainland Portugal, except for Bragança, Guarda, and Castelo Branco. South of Lisbon and Évora, inclusive, no rain is expected, only cloudy skies, as well as for Madeira.
Temperatures are expected to hover around 20°C, reaching 26°C in Beja and Faro and 15°C in Guarda. Lisbon can expect a maximum of 22°C and a minimum of 14°C, with Porto seeing a maximum of 19°C and a minimum of 13°C.
For Tuesday, the IPMA forecasts partly cloudy skies in the North and Madeira, mostly clear skies in the Center, and clear skies in Sagres and Faro. Rain is expected only in the islands of the Western and Central groups of the Azores.
Temperatures are expected to reach 29°C in Faro, 27°C in Beja and Castelo Branco, and 26°C in Évora and Setúbal. Lisbon is expected to reach a maximum of 24°C and Porto 20°C.
A similar scenario, but slightly warmer and sunnier, is forecasted by the IPMA for Wednesday, May 21. The sky is expected to remain partly cloudy in the North and mostly clear in the Center. Évora, Beja, and Faro are expected to have clear skies. The only place where rain is likely is Terceira Island.
Temperatures could reach a maximum of 31°C in Faro, 29°C in Beja and Castelo Branco, and 28°C in Évora. In Lisbon, thermometers are not expected to exceed 23°C, and in Porto, 20°C.
