Wet Bed Gang, Mariza, Bonga, and Nenny in new festival Sotaques

The organization announced that the first edition of the Sotaques festival will take place on May 23, 24, and 25 at the Parque Urbano Quinta da Flamenga. The event will feature a “Portuguese-only language lineup but truly diverse in the accents of its performers.”

The festival is being promoted by the Wet Bed Gang, originating from Vialonga, in partnership with the Vila Franca de Xira City Council.

Besides the quartet consisting of Gson, Kroa, Zara G, and Zizzy, performances are also confirmed by Deejay Telio, Mariza, Phoenix RDC, Regula, Força Suprema, Mizzy Miles, Bonga, Nenny, and Soraia Ramos.

In addition to these “key names of Portuguese-sung music,” the lineup includes the Orquestra Geração de Vialonga and the Batucadeiras, as well as “up-and-coming local artists” whose names will be revealed soon.

The new festival, which is free to enter but limited to the venue’s capacity, is organized “for all those who embrace the spirit of language — the accent.”

The Wet Bed Gang formed in 2013. The four members grew up together in Vialonga, where they continue to live and have a studio.

In 2017, they released their debut EP, ‘Filhos do Rossi,’ in tribute to one of the founders of the Wet Bed Gang movement, João Rossi, who passed away in 2014.

In February 2021, they released ‘Ngana Zambi,’ their first album created from scratch “from the first beat to the last word,” featuring narration by ‘kota’ Bonga.

The second album, ‘Gorilleyez,’ which spans from drill to samba and reflects who the group is and how they see the world, was released in 2023.
