The shares of Luís Filipe Vieira in Benfica’s SAD are set to be sold at auction, with the operation expected to commence in the coming days.
Novo Banco has appointed JB Capital, a Spanish investment firm, to oversee this transaction.
It is notable that Luís Filipe Vieira held a 3.28% stake in the club’s SAD.
However, Novo Banco seized these shares from the former Benfica president in November 2021.
The seizure of all 753,615 shares owned by Vieira is the result of a precautionary measure related to an enforcement action, in which Novo Banco sought the payment of 7.5 million euros for a loan provided to Promovalor.
As the debt remained unpaid, the bank enforced personal guarantees provided by Luís Filipe Vieira, which included his stake in the club’s SAD.
