A survey conducted by the European Central Bank (ECB) and published today indicates a forecasted first increase in interest rates in the second quarter of 2028, reaching 2.25%.
Last week, the ECB reduced the deposit facility interest rate by 25 basis points to 2.25%, citing continued progress in the disinflation process and economic outlooks clouded by extraordinary uncertainty.
“Growth prospects have deteriorated due to escalating trade tensions,” the ECB warned last week.
The next ECB monetary policy meeting is scheduled for June 4-5 in Frankfurt.
