The commander of the Ferreira do Alentejo Fire Department, João Matias, explained that the ‘sandwich’ panel roof of a construction and DIY materials store was blown off by the wind and fell onto the Estrada Nacional 2.
Matias emphasized that firefighters cleared the debris that was blocking road traffic, noting that no injuries occurred.
A source from the Beja Territorial Command of the GNR mentioned that traffic on the EN2 near Ferreira do Alentejo was halted from 11:35 AM to 12:10 PM due to debris on the road.
The fire brigade commander added that the wind also damaged the roof of a house in Ferreira do Alentejo and caused several trees to fall in the Alentejo municipality.
