The preliminary estimate of the “Economic Accounts for Agriculture – 2025” by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) indicates that while this year’s wine production is reported to be “the lowest of the last decade, wines of quality are still expected, with balanced sugar levels and good aromatic concentration.”
The decline in wine production was attributed to “intense rainfall and mild temperatures in spring [which] promoted the spread of downy mildew, reducing the number and weight of grapes,” as well as “extreme heat in summer [which] led to scorching and dehydration of the fruits.”
