The Public Prosecutor’s Office has charged a woman with attempted murder and aggravated threats, as indicated in a statement published on the website of the Porto District Attorney General’s Office. The charges were formalized in a dispatch dated February 14.
The indictment states that the accused and the victim cohabited for two years, during which their relationship was “marked by frequent conflicts stemming from the accused’s jealousy, which often resulted in acts of physical and verbal aggression.”
On August 14, 2023, inside their home in Matosinhos, Porto district, following a fresh conflict, “the accused insulted her partner, threatened him, and assaulted him with a decorative object,” according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
As the victim “was preparing to leave the residence intending to end the relationship, the accused armed herself with a 15-centimeter kitchen knife, inflicting several (12) stab wounds on the upper body (including the chest, face, and head), with the intent to kill him.”
The woman did not succeed in killing her then-partner because he fell “down the stairs leading to the street,” managed to get up, and sought “immediate help at an adjoining establishment.”
The accused is currently in pre-trial detention.
