A Brazilian woman, aged 33, claims she was beaten and stabbed by her husband in their apartment located in Porto.
The account, shared on social media, has gained attention in the Brazilian press. Sttefany Pires told G1 that following the violent attack, her husband, who was employed as a truck driver in Portugal, fled to Brazil.
Notícias ao Minuto confirmed with the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) that a complaint has been filed against the man, and an investigation is underway. The authorities have not provided further details.
Assaulted and Stabbed, with Broken Tooth and Missing Hair
Sttefany, who works in Porto as a masseuse and personal trainer, revealed to G1 that she had been married for a year and a half and during this time, her husband had never been violent. The attack on November 21 came as a shock, following a discussion about ending their relationship.
“He threw me to the ground, hit my head, struck my nose […]. He kicked me in the mouth, breaking a tooth. Then he pulled a knife from his pants pocket,” she recounted, adding that her husband also stabbed her on the face, head, and left arm.
Sttefany required “multiple stitches,” lost “part of her hair,” and a front tooth.
After the assault, the man left the apartment with only the clothes he was wearing and a bag containing a passport, credit card, and keys to another residence in Portugal.
Sttefany, who has lived in Portugal for 10 years, sought help from neighbors and was hospitalized before filing a complaint with the authorities.
On social media, the masseuse appealed for assistance in locating her husband, who she believes boarded a flight from Lisbon to São Paulo.
The truck driver has family in Santos and has reportedly been seen there by several witnesses. However, Steffany has no information about the ongoing investigation in Brazil.
“I’m eager to resolve this. I’m not sleeping well, and he is out there living as if nothing happened,” she lamented to the Brazilian site.
G1 attempted to ascertain the status of the investigation in Brazil with the Federal Police, but they stated they do not comment on “ongoing investigations” or mention names of potential suspects.
The suspect has not responded to contact attempts.
